FCLC Member Mariana Rossman Achieves Acquittal in EDPA Retrial
FCLC member Mariana Rossman obtained an acquittal for her client, Alan Sanchez-Hernandez, following a retrial in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania before Judge Harvey Bartle III. Sanchez-Hernandez was charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and aiding and abetting, after federal agents intercepted a parcel containing two kilograms of cocaine sent from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia.
Although the underlying facts were relatively straightforward, the case involved extensive motions practice. That work ultimately led to the jury hearing a portion of Sanchez-Hernandez’s co-defendant’s safety-valve proffer, in which the co-defendant exculpated him.
This marks Rossman’s fourth federal acquittal. A lifelong defense attorney, Rossman practices as a solo practitioner.
