Judges Mitchell Goldberg and Mark Kearney will be presenting at the CLE and Maggie Grasso will be the moderator.

The CLE program will be hosted by Dilworth Paxson, located at 1650 Market Street, Suite 1200, Philadelphia, PA 19102. There will be an option to attend virtually.

The CLE will be on Tuesday, September 22 with lunch starting at 12 PM and the CLE program running from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.

Judge Mitchell S. Goldberg (Ret.)

Judge Goldberg was appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on October 31, 2008 and became Chief Judge in March of 2024. He had previously served on the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Goldberg now serves as Sr. Counsel at Blank Rome handling mediations, litigation strategy and appellate work.

Judge Goldberg’s career as a practicing attorney started at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office where he worked in both the trial and appellate divisions. He later joined the law firm of Cozen O’Connor, where his practice focused on commercial litigation. Judge Goldberg was eventually promoted to senior partner, and also served as the manager of Cozen’s Arson and Fraud Unit. Judge Goldberg returned to the public sector in 1997, serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania where he handled mostly white collar crime cases, both before the District Court and the United Stated Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Judge Goldberg is a graduate of Temple Law School (1986) where he was a member of Temple’s first trial team. He presently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Temple Law teaching federal law and civil/criminal advanced trial advocacy.

Judge Mark A. Kearney

President Barack Obama commissioned Mark A. Kearney as the 100th judge in the history of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in December 2014 following unanimous Senate approval. Judge Kearney received his B.A. with honors followed by his J.D. from Villanova University in 1987, where he serves on the Charles Widger Law School’s Board of Consultors since 2011. He served as the judicial law clerk for the Delaware Court of Chancery for the 1987-88 term. A member of the Delaware and Pennsylvania Bars, his national trial law practice concentrated in commercial, financial, employment, and consumer litigation. He is published in multiple law reviews and publications. The Court of Appeals designated Judge Kearney to preside in the District of Delaware since 2018 and the District of the Virgin Islands since 2023
